It has come to the attention of our Company and the Toshiba Group that SMS messages/voice-mail messages and letters have been sent to mobile phone subscribers and the public in Hong Kong, Macau and China, purportedly in the names of Hong Kong Toshiba Limited (香港東芝有限公司), Hong Kong Toshiba (香港東芝), The Toshiba Group (東芝集團), The Toshiba Group of Japan (日本東芝集團) and Japan Toshiba Company (日本東芝公司) by perpetrators, who have fraudulently misrepresented to the mobile phone subscribers and recipients of the SMS messages/voice-mail messages and letters that they have won the lucky draw organized by our Company or the Toshiba Group for the celebration of the launch of new products. In addition, the mobile phone subscribers and recipients are required to contact the phone numbers provided in the messages. Some of the messages even provided false website addresses of our Company. 

In order to avoid confusion and misunderstanding, and to protect the interest of the general public, our Company would like to make the clarification:

1. Our Company and the Toshiba Group have never organized the lucky draw events described in the said SMS messages, voice-mail messages and letters. All contact phone numbers and website addresses referred to in these messages are neither the contact phone numbers nor the website addresses of our Company or the Toshiba Group. The contents of the said SMS messages, voice-mail messages and letters are false and untrue.
2. Our Company and the Toshiba Group have never issued the above-mentioned SMS messages, voice-mail messages or letters to any of the mobile phone subscribers and the public in Hong Kong, Macau and China. The said SMS messages, voice-mail messages and letters are not in any way related to our Company or the Toshiba Group.
3. Our Company and the Toshiba Group are deeply outraged by the conduct of the persons deceiving the general public using the names of Hong Kong Toshiba Limited (香港東芝有限公司), Hong Kong Toshiba (香港東芝), The Toshiba Group (東芝集團), The Toshiba Group of Japan (日本東芝集團) and Japan Toshiba Company (日本東芝公司). Such conduct would not only affect the goodwill and reputation of our Company and the Toshiba Group seriously but at the same time cause damage to the interest of the general public.

This incident has been given the utmost attention by our Company and the Toshiba Group due to its serious nature. Our Company has reported this matter to the Hong Kong Police and taken appropriate action by notifying the relevant mobile carriers and operators in the hope to bring these perpetrators to justice as soon as possible. Notice is hereby given to clarify the situation.
